Juicing has become very popular over the last few years. The reason is simple. It’s become a vital component to living a healthy lifestyle.
The fresh juice that is produced from fruit, veggies, or a combo of both contains an abundance of vitamins, minerals, and enzymes. These three essential nutrients are usually destroyed when cooking, or are completely absent from processed foods.
There are so many awesome benefits to using the best juicer. Juicing is an easy way to meet your daily requirement of live nutrients of fruits and vegetables.
The cold-pressed juice represents the vital component of what makes up plant-based foods. Nearly every health enthusiast should include juice into their health regimen. Of course, you’re still going to want to eat whole foods, but adding juice makes hitting your goals that much easier.
Listen: In order to get started with healthy juicing, you need to make an investment in a good, reliable, and efficient juicer. We’re here to help you with that. We’re going to go into what you should consider when buying a juicer, what functions you need, and what is the best juicer for the money. There’s a lot of info (and nutrients) to absorb, but we’re here to help you get through it all.
Remember: At the end of the day, you want to have the juicer that best meets your needs.

Benefits of Juicing
Before we go into more detail about each of our top 10 picks, we wanted to show you a quick video on the benefits of juicing. It’s only a couple minutes long, and totally worth it.
Factors to Consider when Buying a Juicer
Ease of Use
Life is difficult and busy – your juicer doesn’t have to be. You want a juicer that’s going to be easy to assemble (preferably ready out the box), disassemble, and clean. Some juicers are made up of so many parts that it’s not worth the frustration of putting together. Don’t worry, all of our recommendations are easy to assemble.
Listen: Yes, you may want a juicer that only has a few simple parts, but there’s always a downside to such simplicity… and that downside usually means fewer functions. It’s not complicated to understand, the more parts a juicer has, the more functions it’s going to have. Take multitasking masticating juicers for example. They can also be used for making pasta and churning butter. More functions, more parts. However, if you’re just looking for a juicer and nothing more, go for a simpler one.
Convenience is a huge factor when choosing a juicer. Again, you don’t want to complicate your life more with this purchase. So a juicer that has a large feeding tube allows you to put larger chunks of food into the juicer. This is going to save you the time of chopping or spiralizing your fruits and vegetables. Large disposal spouts are also awesome because they are hard to clog and produce a higher volume of delicious juice.
Faster doesn’t always mean better. The faster your machine is, the fewer nutrients the juice will have. You’re going to want a slow-moving juicer because they produce juice of higher quality. The machines also last much longer
Remember: We said it before, and we’ll say it again. You’re making an investment – not only in your juicer, but also in your health. You may be hesitant to spend more on a better model. But you need to consider not just the initial investment, but also the cost of juicing over the long run.
To give you an example, cheap centrifugal juicers aren’t nearly as efficient as masticating or triturating models. Why? Because they have a much lower juice yield and produce a lot of waste. If you have a garbage problem, think about installing a garbage disposal, like the InSinkErator Garbage Disposal, or used an indoor compost bin. That means that you’re paying more for every ounce of juice that you make! That’s why you should invest in more efficient juicers.
Rule of thumb: The more expensive the juicers, the higher quality it’s going to be.
This one may surprise you (and it definitely will if you don’t consider it before you buy). Juicers can be really, really loud. You don’t want to wake up your family (and neighbors) when you’re trying to juice in the morning. You want a model that’s going to be as quiet as a church mouse.
Generally, lower price and fast speed equate to louder noise. So cheaper, high-speed centrifugal juicers can be incredibly noise, while the slower-moving masticating and triturating models are quietest.
When determining which size juicer is best for you, prioritize the volume of juice you want over everything else. Also consider how much counter-space you have. Generally, the larger the unit, the more juice it’s going to produce.
You need your juicer to come with a warranty in case anything happens to it. While we only recommend models with a good track record of reliability, accidents do happen. Also, cheaper brands of juicers usually break easier. Coincidentally, these are usually the models that don’t have a lengthy warranty.
If you want a peace of mind, go with the more expensive brands that usually carry a lifetime warranty. But if you’re just starting out with juicing, you may want to go for a slightly cheaper, but reputable brand with a limited warranty.
Rule of thumb: More power means more juice extraction. You’re going to want a motor that’s at least 400 watts in order to extract all that wonderful juice. If you go for a more powerful juicer, then you won’t have to worry.
Easy to Clean
Remember how we talked about how more parts may mean more assembly time? Well, more parts usually also means more cleaning time. However, when we’re talking about more parts, we only mean 5 – 9 parts. Simpler models of juicers will have fewer, while more premium, expensive juicers will have more.
What are the types of juicers?
There are two main types of juicers: centrifugal juicers and masticating juicers. Both are great, but for different reasons…
Centrifugal juicers are by far the most common juicers. Why? Because they’re usually cheaper than their counterpart.
The type of juicer has a metal blade that spins at high speeds against a mesh filter. This causes the juice to extract from the vegetables and fruits. Centrifugal force causes the separation of the juice from the flesh of the fruit or veggie.
These conventional juicers are great at juicing fresh fruit juicers. However, they aren’t the best for juicing leafy greens, such as kale, spinach, and wheat grass. If you’re like me and leafy greens are your best friend, then you may want to consider a masticating juicer.
Price: a great quality centrifugal juicer costs a lot less than a quality masticating juicer. However, the premium models are comparable in price to their premium counterparts
Speed: Centrifugal juicers are really, really fast! They operate at a very high RPM. Juicing time is very short.
Ease of Use: awesome for both beginners and experts since they make juicing simple. Because of the way these machines are designed, juicing won’t ever by complicated.
Clean Up: they’re easy to disassemble, so clean-up is a breeze. Usually they’re dishwasher safe, making these very easy to clean juicers.
Oxidation: because the centrifugal juicer operates at a high RPM, there’s going to be a lot of foam generated. When the blades are spinning fast, oxygen bubbles will form in the juice. This results in not only foam, but also lower shelf life of the juice. This can cause the juice extracted from the centrifugal juicer to spoil much quicker. Plan on consuming immediately if you go with this type of juicer.
Lower yields than masticating juicers: Centrifugal juicers aren’t nearly as efficient as masticating juicers when talking about yield. Centrifugal juicers have a habit of keeping the pulp relatively wet, which takes away from the juice yielded. Again, this is why you shouldn’t expect leafy greens to produce a high yield of juice.
Can’t juice leafy greens: we’ve touched on this a few times now, but it’s really important. Because of the design of these machines, you’re not going to be able to juice leafy greens.
Masticating juicers, or otherwise known as cold-press juicers, extract their juice by crushing, then pressing fruits and vegetables. Not heat is used in the juice extraction. They mimic natural mastication or chewing mechanism that each of us has in our oral cavities. Because of this, the auger chews fruits and veggies much slower than centrifugal juicers. This solves the complaints that we had with centrifugal juicers (slow speed means reduced heat, increase efficiency, and no foam generation).
Juice Yield: masticating juicers are much more efficient at extracting juice from fiborous greens than centrifugal juicers are. The extracted pulp comes out dry! And the yield is high!
Juice Quality: because there is no heat involved and the speed is slow, shelf life of extracted juice is very long.
Oxidation: because juice is extracted via pressing, rather than churning, there is little to no oxidation present. The cold press mechanism does a fantastic job of extracting juice that retains essential nutrients and vitamins.
Listen: if you’re focused on nutrition, then masticating juicers are the best choice for you
Functionality: masticating juicers usually come equipped with many different functionalities. Some of the more popular ones involve homogenizing food, such as making baby food, butters, pastes, sauces, sorbets, and ice cream. What’s really impressive, is that there are some masticating juicers than can churn out fancier items like pasta, bread sticks, and rice cakes.
Price: you’re going to be paying around $200 for a good unit, with more premium ones running upwards of $500. Remember, with a top of the line masticating juicer, you’ll easily recoup your investment because of the higher-quality, better-yielding juice that is extracted.
Clean-Up: cleaning these isn’t bad at all, but remember what we said about more parts means more cleaning? Well, masticating juicers usually have more parts, so that means a bit more cleaning. It’s nothing you can’t handle though.

#1 – Omega J8006 Nutrition Center Juicer
The Omega J8006 Nutrition Center Juicer is our top pick. This masticating type of juicer works at a very slow speed (80 RPM) in order to extract juice in the most efficient way. In fact, there is virtually no heat nor foam produced.
The juice yield from the Omega J8006 is very high. This superior quality will give you a shelf life of roughly 72 hours, depending on what you’re juicing. We’ve had juice last upwards of a full week!
We love how Omega backs up their juicer with a 15-year warranty. Believe me, I doubt you’ll need to use it. This is a very well-made juicer.
And there’s more! It can produce a variety of things, such as nut butter and double as a pasta making machine.
Because you get so much with this premium juicer, the price is going to be a bit higher than other models. But remember what we said before, higher quality juicers mean a higher quality, more efficient yield. In the long run, you’ll save money!
We can confidently say this is the best masticating juicer on the market. You won’t be disappointed.

The Breville 800JEXL Juicer has a HUGE feeding tube, which can handle full fruits and vegetables with ease. You’ll save a ton of time not having to chop and dice your produce!
