Most people in this situation would probably prefer all the fancy cooking and baking for the weekend when they have enough time to spoil their children. You might even get a helping hand from them if they’re as passionate about cooking as you are.

And when it comes to baking biscuits, it’s always better to prepare a big batch, more than what the whole family would feast on in one day. Yes, you’ll have to clean your Baker’s Rack, Bakeware Set, and all your Baking Tools afterward, but it’s totally worth it. That way you can have healthy, home-made snacks available for the whole weekend and even for a couple of days during the week, while the kids are in school and you’re too busy to do anything.

But if you’ve been used to munching on tasty biscuits right out of the oven, you’d know better than anyone that nothing can beat it. And cold leftover biscuits don’t provide the same pleasure.

But don’t worry, there seems to be a way to solve that. For whenever the kids are hungry and want to have a taste of your baking, here are the best reheating methods to make the biscuits as good as new.

How Should Biscuits Be Stored?

There’s a preliminary stage that’s very crucial to the whole heating process: the storage.

If the biscuits aren’t stored properly, you won’t be getting the desired results after reheating them.

We have for you three ways through which you can be sure that the biscuits are stored properly:

The Cupboard

If you’re using the cupboard, your biscuits will be fine for up to 5 days. Of course, you’ll want to have them in a Food Storage Container or a FoodSaver before you do so. We recommend an airtight one to get the best out of it.

There’s another way of doing things. A Ziplock freezer bag can do the same trick. You might have baked extra-large biscuits, and for that, you should probably put each one in its own Ziplock bag, so that no other biscuits are ruined by air whenever the bags are opened.

The more you open your containers, the more you shorten the freshness-span of your biscuits. So, try to avoid that as much as possible.

Humidity and high temperatures are also your enemies. You want to keep your biscuits in a dry and cool cupboard if you’re looking for a good outcome. Anything else will result in the acceleration of biscuit degradation. There’s no point of reheating spoiled biscuits.

The Fridge

Here we have another great method. What’s cool about the fridge or Compact Refrigerator is that they maintain the biscuits at a consistently low temperature, which is exactly what needs to be done to preserve them for long periods.

As we’ve mentioned before, you should place the biscuits in an airtight container before doing anything. If you don’t, the biscuits will most likely absorb odors from surrounding foods. No one wants to have chicken-scented biscuits. So just placing them on a plate and leaving them in the fridge won’t be such a great idea.

So when it comes to the fridge, you have a maximum period of a week. You can even store unbaked biscuits in there if you’d like, but not for more than a day.

The Freezer

This is the method that will guarantee the longest period of freshness. A frozen biscuit will remain the same as it was when first put in the freezer. This is the most significant prolongation of shelf life.

But be aware, the method does come with a slight downside. The freezing effect on the biscuits also influences their structure. They will become more fragile and easily breakable. Once you’re going to bring them out of the Chest Freezer, you’ll have to be a bit delicate. If you don’t, you might be serving your guests a pile of crumbled biscuits.

How can we prevent that? You can simply take every biscuit on its own and wrap it up before placing them all together in the freezer. Wax paper, cling wraps, and foil are all good choices for doing so.

How Should Biscuits Be Reheated?

Every possible solution we’re going to list down below will bring you results that you’ll be happy about. We recommend that you give each one a shot and decide on your most preferred method.

A Pan and Aluminum Foil

  1. Set the Gas Cooktop on medium heat and pre-heat the pan on it.
  2. Wrap your biscuits in the aluminum foil
  3. Place them inside the pan and cover it
  4. Set the heat on low
  5. Flip your biscuits on their other side after about two minutes
  6. Give them about two minutes then take the pan off the stove
  7. Unwrap your biscuits and enjoy them as quickly as possible.

If you’re going with this method after refrigerating the biscuits, we recommend that you laze them first with some Olive Oil or butter to increase the heat inside the foil while also maintaining the moisture of the biscuits.

A Non-Stick Pan and Butter

  1. Pre-heat a non-stick pan from your Nonstick Cookware Sets (or a cast iron one, a Cast-Iron Fajita Pan for example)
  2. Set the heat on low.
  3. Use butter or olive oil to glaze the biscuits
  4. Place the biscuits in the pan and every ~15 seconds flip them from one side to the other to make sure both sides get even amounts of heat and nothing gets burnt.
  5. After about two minutes, take the biscuits out of the pan and serve them immediately (you might want to wait just a bit since they were refrigerated)

The Microwave

  1. Take a moist towel (not soaking wet) and place the biscuits inside it. This is the make sure that the biscuits stay moist inside the microwave
  2. Put the biscuits inside a container that has a lid and is microwave-safe.
  3. The lid should simply rest on top of the container. Don’t lock it because there’s a risk of causing it to pop aggressively.
  4. Set the heat to medium
  5. Activate the microwave for two minutes
  6. Take the biscuits out of the microwave an serve them before they get cold.

Refrigerated biscuits will taste better than cupboard ones after being heated in the microwave because they retain some moisture.

The Oven

  1. Preheat the normal or Convection Oven. Set the temperature to 350°F
  2. Line a baking tray with a baking or Cookie Sheet
  3. Glaze, just lightly, the baking sheet with olive oil or butter
  4. Put your biscuits on the plate with enough distance between each one and the other.
  5. Place the tray in the oven for around 3 minutes (leave it for 6 to 8 min if the biscuits have been refrigerated)
  6. Serve the biscuits immediately after taking them out of the oven

How Should Frozen Biscuits Be Reheated

If you chose to freeze your biscuits, the reheating part gets a bit trickier for you. We’re going to go through the same methods that we’ve discussed earlier, with some slight changes. So, read carefully. But if you happen to get things right, you’ll have better-tasting cookies than the cupboard/fridge stored ones.

A Pan and Aluminum Foil

  1. Light the stove on and pre-heat the pan on it.
  2. Wrap your biscuits in the aluminum foil
  3. Place them inside the pan and cover it (if the biscuits were in a foil while they were freezing, you don’t have to unwrap them)
  4. Set the heat on low
  5. Flip your biscuits on their other side after about two minutes
  6. Flip them again for three more times. Don’t rush it or the ice on the inside may not thaw completely
  7. Unwrap your biscuits and enjoy them as quickly as possible.

A Non-Stick Pan and Butter

The same method as before with one small difference. The flipping process needs to be repeated a bit more to make sure that the biscuits thaw properly.

The Microwave

The same method but you’ll have to set the microwave on for a period of 4 minutes and a higher temperature.

The Oven

When it comes to frozen biscuits, they’ll have to be covered from the top by another baking sheet and baking tray before taking them inside the oven. You’ll also have to leave them in the oven for a significantly longer time. We’re talking about 15 minutes of reheating.

An important note: Reheating the biscuits can only happen once. So, if you’re going to do so, only reheat the amount you are going to eat.
