Lemon is well known for its fresh and citrusy taste. This simple ingredient can help to freshen up nearly any meal and quickly take the edge off of anything that would otherwise be too savory or perhaps too sweet.
As it happens, lemon is also extremely healthy for you!
But lemon seasoning – also known as lemon pepper – is a slightly easier option when it comes to adding a similar flavor that has a slightly more peppery effect and that won’t dry out as easily. This can then be stored in spice racks to keep things simple, and it is perfect for quickly adding more flavor to your meals. It goes great on pasta, is regularly used with chicken, and also can be found in many a Mexican cookbook or Paleo Diet cookbook.

Making Lemon Seasoning
You’ll find that this is a great option for quickly creating your own lemon seasoning from scratch. You’ll need:
- 1 cup of black peppercorns
- 1/3 cup of dried lemon peel
- ¼ cup of dried onion
- ¼ cup of dried thyme
- 3 tablespoons of coriander seeds
Using Lemon Seasoning
Lemon seasoning can be used in a wide variety of different meals and recipes. One of the best is to make ‘Mexican chicken’. Mexican chicken isn’t actually Mexican, but it has a similar taste and is delicious anyway!
To make it, you are going to take diced chicken and a whole egg. Crack the egg into a dish and set aside another dish filled with just breadcrumbs. Now you’re going to take each individual piece of chicken, dip it into the egg and coat it thoroughly, and then roll it in the breadcrumbs. The egg will adhere the breadcrumbs to the surface of the chicken, thereby creating a coating. Then fry in sauce pans or an air fryer and your chicken will start to take on a crispy exterior. While this is happening, you’re going to sprinkle on some of your lemon seasoning.
Meanwhile, you should also prepare a chutney. Cut some apple, some onion, some red pepper, and use a little chopped tomato from a can. Mix them together and place in the other saucepan. Now add a little bit of mango chutney and a dollop of chile powder (to taste). The result is that the fruits should be sticky and fruity, while the spice cuts through.
This goes beautifully with some mayo. Dip the crispy lemon chicken into the mayonnaise and then into the chutney and eat together on a fork.
