The one key fact behind baking cookies you need to be aware of

A lot of people think that baking the best tasting chocolate cookies is a pretty straightforward affair. They need that they just need to go through a checklist of ingredients, follow the directions in the right sequence, and warm up the oven properly, and out comes an amazing batch of cookies.

I wish this was the case. I wish that you just need to go through the right instructions and use the right cookie pans, and you’re pretty much good to go. I wish that there was a lot of consistency that is, pardon the pun, baked into your routine. Unfortunately, life doesn’t work that way. As the old saying goes, life is what happens when you’re making other plans. And the problem here is the plans that we follow.

You have to understand that planning simply provides a structure. It simply provides some sort of sequence of steps. You have to fill in those steps and this is where people go wrong. You have to understand that there is such a thing as an operating rule when it comes to baking cookies. In fact, if you look at this rule hard enough, you would quickly realize that it actually applies across the board. It applies to all areas of your life.

What rule am I talking about? The simple rule of: garbage in, garbage out. If you have a garbage problem, think about installing a garbage disposal, like the InSinkErator Garbage Disposal, or used an indoor compost bin.

Put simply, if you are baking anything and you choose substandard or low quality ingredients, then what you end up producing, regardless of your intentions, motivations, and the quality of your equipment, is going to be substandard. It’s not going to be something worth writing home about. In all likelihood, it’s probably something that is all too forgettable. People eat tons of cookies through the years. You can bet that, for the most part, the number of truly memorable cookies they have eaten can be counted with one hand.

And the worst part to all of this is that you are completely at fault for making this happen. Why? You chose to cut corners. You chose to take shortcuts, instead of putting in what is required. If you want quality, you have to put in quality. That’s how it works. In a way, this is a great metaphor for life. If you want the best things in life, then you have to put in the hard work, sacrifice, and focus needed to get the best things in life.

Nobody’s going to, out of the kindness of their own heart, drop bridges on your map. Well, you can win the lottery but I’m telling you, according to research studies on Lotto winners, most of them end up losing that fortune in a relatively short period of time. You only get out what you put in, and that’s why it’s really important to make sure that you don’t cut corners, as far as ingredient quality is concerned.

Now, this doesn’t necessarily mean that you should automatically grab the biggest premium brands of flour, chocolate chips, sugar, and other baking ingredients. I’m not necessarily advocating that. What I’m saying is that you need to pay close attention to the incremental price increase as you move from substandard or low quality ingredient to higher quality ingredients.

What I’ve personally discovered is that by simply investing a couple of dollars more in premium ingredients, you get a return on investment that is several times greater than the money that you put in. In other words, to get $10 worth reference, it may take as little as a $2 investment. Isn’t that awesome? Isn’t that great news?

So if you’re thinking of baking fresh cookies on your cookie pans, muffin pans, and what not, you should not cut corners as far as ingredient quality is concerned. The good news is there are tons of volume discounts or warehouse discount sources in the United States. I’m talking about online and offline. It is possible to get top notch big brand ingredients at rock bottom prices.

Of course, you’re still paying for this in the form of time. It takes time to hunt these websites. It takes time to figure out how the game works. It takes time to learn the ropes. But once you learn it, you would be able to hit the Holy Grail. The Holy Grail here is paying a low price for high quality products so you can produce, on a consistent basis, high quality cookies, delicious muffins, tasty brownies, cakes, breads, and what have you.

Remember, you owe it to yourself. Nobody’s going to do this for you. You have to invest the time, effort, and attention to detail to make this happen.
